The Story of Paddles on Parade

Paddles on Parade was started in 2008-2009. It is a fun, public event that raises funds for our education and outreach activities. Artists apply their talents to the fun and unusual medium of paddles and attendees have the opportunity to purchase these exciting pieces, all while supporting us.

The paddles are auctioned off at the annual Valentine's Day Gala Auction and Party. The Gala includes entertainment, sweet and savory snacks, and the beautiful paddles in either a live or silent auction.

Last year, around 40 paddles were decorated and Paddles on Parade earned over $4,000 towards our education and outreach activities.

This year, five "corporate sponsor" paddles will be kept and displayed in the Pacific Northwest Library for Sex Positive Culture (located at the Center) and in our booth at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival and Pride Parade.

Paddles on Parade Opening Reception ~ Saturday, February 6, 2010

To help generate more awareness for the paddles available for auction, all paddles are on display at Seattle's own Wild at Heart. They will be showcased from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 1111 NW Leary Way, in Seattle, Washington. This is a great chance to get a sneak peek before the big auction event!

Paddles on Parade Gala Auction ~ Valentine's Day, February 14, 2010

The 2010 Gala Auction will feature over 30 unique paddles, available for bidding. Each one is hand crafted and selectively designed by members of our community and leading sex positive supporters. We hope you will come and enjoy this festive evening of auctions, live performances, and delicious treats served by our talented volunteers.

The silent auction runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with the paddles on display in the Annex and Raw Space. The live auction paddles will be on display from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m in the Main Space, and the live auction will run from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
