About the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture

The Foundation for Sex Positive Culture was established in 2007 as a sister nonprofit to the Center for Sex Positive Culture. We collaborate to better advance sex positive culture and make it available to a wider audience.  All mail should be directed to 1602 - 15th Ave W, Seattle WA 98119

Mission and Sex Positive Vision

Our mission is to promote the many ways sex is beneficial through education, outreach, the arts, advocacy, and research programs that serve the public.

As proponents of sex positive culture, we believe that the appropriate uses of sex extend beyond reproduction.  They include creating personal pleasure, bonding interpersonal relationships, promoting spiritual growth, and enhancing emotional and physical health.  In a sex positive world, everyone has the freedom and resources to pursue a fulfilling and empowering sex life.

Offerings, Activities and Outreach

We provide regular social and support group meetings, average more than 16 workshops per month and offer extensive informational resources and research opportunities in various areas of human sexuality, including BDSM, polyamory, fetish and basic sexuality.

Our Pacific Northwest Library for Sex Positive Culture has a broad collection of over 6,000 pieces - many rare and unusual - and is one of the largest of its kind.

Perhaps the greatest marker of our success is the now internationally recognized Seattle Erotic Art Festival, founded in 2002 to promote freedom of sexuality, speech and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art. Through the Festival, we are able to reach beyond the Center's typical community to the general public and world.

We collaborate with the Center, participating in national conferences focusing on various topics on sexuality and related to sex positive organizations like Pride and GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender).  We also participate in Seattle festivals like the Capitol Hill Block Party and Pride, host regular forums at local colleges and universities, and participate in radio talk shows.

Structure and Leadership

As a 501(c)(3), we are eligible for tax benefits, matching contributions and grant funding, and donations may be tax deductible. We are run by a board of directors.
